Mission and Vision
The world is changing all around us. By 2020, almost half of the entering college students in Colorado (and the nation) will be non-white. Today’s second graders are tomorrow’s engineering students and the graduating engineers of 2025. The engineering profession must create solutions that are attractive to an increasingly diverse population in order to strengthen its technological capacity. Through the BOLD (Broadening Opportunity through Leadership and Diversity) Center, CU-Engineering is committed to graduating an innovative and competitive engineering work force that is diverse in gender, ethnicity and socioeconomic representation.
BOLD differentiates itself in both kind and degree of impact. With research-driven methods and a broadly inclusive approach, BOLD pieces together many aspects of the diversity puzzle, supporting underrepresented engineering students through disciplined and purposeful access, performance and retention philosophies and initiatives.
