What is BOLD?

Join the BOLD Center family!

The BOLD (Broadening Opportunity through Leadership and Diversity) Center is part of CU-Boulder’s commitment to creating an environment where students like you achieve your dreams. Engineering is essential to the health, happiness and safety of our nation and planet, and the strongest engineering solutions are created by a work force diverse in gender, ethnicity and socioeconomic representation. The BOLD Center fosters success through academic resources, student leadership opportunities and a supportive community in order to break down the barriers that keep too many of today’s young talent from reaching their aspirations.

What Sets BOLD Apart?

Through a broadly inclusive approach and applying research-driven methods, the BOLD Center strives to achieve parity in diversity between CU-engineering students and the greater Colorado population. BOLD pieces together many aspects of the diversity puzzle, working with underrepresented engineering students from their first year until graduation. With programs to build community, academic resources such as our tutoring center, and opportunities for career development and industry networking, the BOLD Center is more than just a student center… it’s a family!

A Community of Scholars and Leaders

Whether you’re interested in volunteering for K-12 activities or recruiting events, participating in an engineering student society, or joining an academic work group, the BOLD Center offers many enrichment opportunities and a chance to give back to your community. BOLD Participation Scholarships are a great way to help support your education while gaining valuable volunteer and community-building experience. Also, BOLD students build lifelong friendships through the ASPIRE and GoldShirt Summer Bridge Programs and the newly-renovated Andrews Hall—a flagship living and learning community where talented individuals come together to challenge and inspire each other.

Whether you’re a prospective student interested in CU-Engineering, a current student, or a graduate, faculty, or industry partner who would like to support our cause, we look forward to working with you to build a community of diverse scholars and leaders for tomorrow.
