The BOLD Celebration of Excellence

The Celebration of Excellence is the BOLD Center’s way of honoring the accomplishments and successes of our outstanding students. Yearly participation in the event continues to increase, and in 2012 we had over 200 of our top students attend, including GPA award recipients, BOLD Scholars, and graduating seniors. This festive evening gala occurs in the spring at the end of the academic year and consists of award presentations, networking and mingling, as well as recognition of the award winners and graduating seniors. It is also one of the BOLD Center’s key fundraising events and raises awareness of BOLD programs and initiatives both in the college and corporate arena.

For each year’s gala we offer a variety of sponsorship levels and opportunities for corporate partners to get involved and meet our students. We also offer a BOLD Center “wishing wall” at the celebration where donors can choose to support students in a wide variety of causes. For example, in the past, donors have sent students to the NSBE national conference, supported the GirlScouts program, and provided much-needed equipment and even scholarships for individual students. To be a part of the next Celebration of Excellence event, please contact us.

Industry Night

The BOLD Center hosts an Industry Night event once a year to give students a taste of the many opportunities available to them with an engineering degree. We are always looking to feature new industries and companies that the students may find interesting and inspiring. If you are interested in participating in the 2013 Industry Night, please contact Dr. Beverly Louie for information on how to get involved.

Power Hour

Power Hour is an informal way to meet with BOLD students. This one-hour study break is a weekly event during the spring and fall semester, and alternates between fun, stress-relief study breaks and skillbuilding and career-oriented workshops or informational sessions. These events vary in size depending on the weekly schedules and coursework of our students. Typically they range from about 10-20 students. If your company is interested in hosting a Power Hour for a resume critique or other career-related event, please let us know. We would be happy to work with you to create an interesting and engaging program.
